Magpul, the company that revolutionized the AR-15 magazine industry not long ago with it’s PMAG AR-15 polymer magazines, has just introduced their first Glock magazine.
The PMAG 17 GL9 is a 17 -round 9mm magazine for the Glock 17, which will also work in other Glock 19mm pistols.
This is Magpul’s first entry into the Glock magazine market, and this is just the beginning for them. They’re going to start producing magazines for other Glock pistols in the near future.
But Will It Be As Reliable?
According to Magpul, the PMAG17 GL9 is “designed around the same Gen M3 polymer used in M16 PMags, the GL9 PMag provides the boring reliability expected from OEM Glock.”
That’s great to hear, as those of us who like Glock, like it in large part for that reason… a Glock excels at boring reliability. It ust works, and eats whatever you feed it.
How Is It Better Than An OEM Glock Magazine?
So, the new Magpul PMAG17 GL9 “provides the boring reliability expected from OEM Glock”, but how is it BETTER than an OEM Glock magazine?
- Easy takedown for cleaning, without having to precariously balance a pin punch and a vise.
- Lower cost. Retail price of $15.95, which will likely put street price at $12. That’s less than half the cost of a Glock OEM magazine.
